This holiday season allow someone else to decorate, cook, and clean while you enjoy the historic sights and sounds of St. Augustine, Florida. Immerse yourself in the twinkling holiday lights, perfectly decorated Christmas tree, and beautiful crimson red poinsettias adorning the entryway to the Westcott House Bed & Breakfast.
Located on Avenida Menendez in St. Augustine FL, this bay front bed and breakfast, Westcott House, was built in 1880 as a private residence for Dr. John Westcott. Dr. Wescott was well known for his prominent military career, interests in transportation and politics, and research efforts in the cause and cure of yellow fever. He was a land surveyor for the St. Johns Railroad (whose tracks spread from the San Sebastian River to Tocoi) and was a heavy hitter in the development of the Intracoastal Waterway that links the St. Johns River to Miami. The house changed hands a few times over the years and saw its fair share of soirees amongst St. Augustine’s elite. In the 1970s, it was converted into a guesthouse and has been entertaining tourists and travelers ever since. Today, Bayfront Westcott House is a 16-room, full-service bed and breakfast.
Recently remodeled, each room is unique and beautifully detailed for comfort – which is important regardless of the holiday. Cozy bedding, relaxing showers/Jacuzzi tubs, and privacy, will make your holiday escape everything you’ve dreamed it would be. One of the best parts about staying at a bed and breakfast is the breakfast! Serving a different signature entrée each morning, you will find pure happiness in each bite. Each breakfast makes for a full gourmet presentation that will leave your taste buds craving more. Choose from baked French toast; eggs, bacon & asiago cheese quiche, potato crusted; poached egg and ham served on an English muffin, covered in homemade heavenly hollandaise sauce; sausage, egg, sage, and smoked gouda, baked and served in individual ramekins; blueberry pancake casserole (with organic blueberries and a blueberry drizzle from the Bar Harbor Jam Company); country-scrambled eggs with peppers, onions, and bacon and balsamic-dressed kale garnish; or the Meat Lover’s Breakfast Egg Bake featuring bacon, sausage, ham, and aged cheddar.
After fueling up for the day, you will be ready to venture outside the beautiful property to enjoy what St. Augustine has to offer during the holidays. A few events that are recommended by the Westcott House staff are:
