Achieving Peace in Mind and Body in 2018

Achieving peace, love, and happiness is no easy task in today’s fast-paced world. With so much stimulus surrounding us all the time, it can be difficult to achieve peace in mind and body. The constant stream of information can be overwhelming. By taking a step back and being selective about the information you review, it is totally possible to choose knowledge that enhances self-love, grows spirituality, and improves health habits.

Food: Nourishing your mind begins with nourishing your body. By mindfully eating healthy foods, our brain is supplied with the nutrients it needs to function at its very best. About ninety-five percent of serotonin is produced in the gastrointestinal tract, so by eating healthy foods and promoting “good” bacteria production, our mind-state will improve.

Meditation: Careful consideration to what we let into our bodies is a pivotal step towards whole body and mind peace, love, and happiness. Another piece of the puzzle requires participation in activities essential to physical and mental growth. One place to start is by beginning a meditation practice that works for you. It is all right if you have not yet developed a meditation practice. There are many reputable resources online and in print that can guide you through the entire meditation process. YouTube is a great place to start, as there are many guided meditations from which you can choose. Meditating for just a few minutes a day improves mental and physical health. It strengthens your immune system, increases happiness, and reduces stress. There are meditation groups in many communities that can build authentic connections with new people and can help hold you accountable to your meditation practice.
