Did you hire a wedding planner? What was the experience like?
Yes, I hired Shannon Wilson from Table 6 Productions in Tampa. Since we had a ‘destination’ wedding, I felt like a wedding planner was a must. It saved us so much time and headache, it honestly felt like all we had to do was show up on our wedding day!
What was the inspiration for your bouquet?
I requested white peonies and let the florist do the rest! My bouquet was wrapped with pieces of my mom’s wedding dress and then draped with my late Grandma’s pearls, which had strung on them the wedding bands from my grandmother, my late Mamaw, and my mom’s first wedding band. It turned out beautiful and was very special to me!
What was a hit song at your reception that got everyone out to on dance floor?
Getting people on the dance floor definitely wasn’t a challenge. Jayson and I briefly left the reception to shoot sunset photos and came back to find everyone in a conga line dancing around the room, before salads had even been served! But a memorable moment was when my Uncle Joe, who has been a singer and musician all his life, took to the stage and sang “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC – he absolutely rocked it!
Did you provide wedding favors to your guests? What were they?
Boca Grande is a quiet little town on Gasparilla Island and is all locally run. There isn’t a major grocery store or single fast food spot on the island – which is great and really keeps the island feel of the town. So, instead of wedding favors, we gave “Tipsy Cakes” from The Cake Zone and had a “fast food to-go” bar set up for guests to enjoy on their way out! We had cheeseburger sliders, mini grilled cheese sandwiches, onion rings, and french fries – it was a huge hit!
Describe your wedding day in three words.
Unforgettable. Magical. Fairytale.
